Hand made by Malosey

Welcome to the Malosey blogspot!

Thank you to all of my friends who have given some great feedback for the new page.  I have been spending some time today getting acquainted with the world of blog and I have successfully managed to upload some images of my wares.  I have chosen a few colourful images of my stitchery for the summer.  The first image being a beautiful bouquet of my stitched flower brooches.

I make a range of pet cushions and blankets based on quilting techniques and patchwork designs.  My favourite way to make patchwork is to choose a huge range of fabrics in different colours and patterns and make 2.5 inch squares randomly scattered to make a good old fashioned patchwork.  I love the idea of using all of the leftover fabric pieces to create something colourful, beautiful, useful, usually large and practical.

This is an example of my patchwork colour schemes.  This quilt is 2 meters square with an inset blue border to frame the colourful squares and highlight the diamond pattern.  The diamonds were created by using light fabrics between the darker colours for contrast.

For our furry four legged friends I make a snazzy range of coats. I can make all shapes and sizes with a range of different fabrics.  The coats pictured are made in the quilting tradition with 100% cotton quilt filling, they are reversible with Velcro fastenings.  Recommended for winter use by the discerning pooch about town. Also I have a range of doggy jumpers and sweatshirts, images available on request!

I have a passion for sculpture as well as painting and sewing and here I have combined my skills and influences to make brooches from buttons.  They are attached with jewellery wire to a main button and pin.  The buttons are arranged at different lengths and heights to create the three dimensional shape and can be manipulated and rearranged.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I hope you have enjoyed looking at some of my creations.  Please feel free to ask questions or give me some feedback about any aspect of my work and blog.
